Dr. Peyman Sardari Nia, MD, PhD, is a Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Maastricht University Medical Center and Associate Professor at Maastricht University. He leads the valvular and endoscopic/robotic surgery programs in Maastricht. His expertise spans valvular heart disease, lung cancer, and advanced cardiothoracic procedures, including endoscopic, robotic, and transcatheter surgery. He advances the concept of “Precision Surgery,” integrating surgical craftsmanship with mathematical accuracy.
He leads a large research program, supervising over 16 PhD candidates.
He is a pioneer in surgical simulation and 3D printing, and recipient of the EACTS Techno-College Innovation Award. He has directed over 100 international training courses, educating more than 1,000 surgeons worldwide. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of ICVTS and is founder and CEO of Simurghy. He is also Chairman of the Heart Team Academy, promoting multidisciplinary cardiovascular care.He holds leadership roles in EACTS and ISMICS and is a member of multiple international societies.
