Fernando Fleischman is a Professor of Clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Southern California (USC). He began his career as an Assistant Professor in 2011, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015, and became Full Professor in 2024. He currently serves as Program Chair for the Western Thoracic Surgical Association.

Dr. Fleischman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to Los Angeles, California, as a young boy. He attended medical school in Puerto Rico, where he gained early experience managing rare and challenging clinical conditions, and later completed further surgical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, receiving multiple teaching awards including the Golden Apple Teaching Award. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at USC under Dr. Vaughn Starnes.

His clinical and research interests focus on endovascular approaches to aortic diseases and innovations in cardiothoracic surgery.
