Laurent de Kerchove is the Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels, a position he has held since October 2023. He graduated as a medical doctor from the Université Catholique de Louvain in 1999 and completed his residency in cardiac surgery in 2006. He further trained in multiple arterial grafting, valve repair, and the Ross procedure at the Clinic Universitaire Saint-Luc under the supervision of Prof. Gebrine el Khoury.
Dr. de Kerchove is the Past President of the Belgian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (2019–2020) and has made significant contributions to the field, earning his PhD in 2014 on “The role of annuloplasty in aortic valve repair.”
His areas of clinical and research interest include valve repair, the Ross operation, aortic surgery, and minimally invasive robotic surgery.
