Anil Ziya Apaydın, M.D., graduated from Ege University Medical School in Izmir, Turkey, in 1990.
He completed his residency in Cardiovascular Surgery at Ege University Medical School Hospital between 1990 and 1996.
He subsequently pursued advanced international training with a residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York from 1996 to 1999.
He is currently a Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Ege University Medical School Hospital in Izmir.

He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Turkish Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery from 2011 to 2015.
He also held the position of Editor-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery and Interventions between 2014 and 2015.
From 2009 to 2017, he was a Councilor of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.
He served as President of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery from 2015 to 2017.
