Dr. Himanshu Patel is the Richard L. Prager, MD Research Professor of Cardiac Surgery.  His leadership roles have included Chief of Veterans Hospital of Ann Arbor, Head of the Multidisciplinary Aortic Program, and Surgical Director of the Structural Heart Program.  He currently serves as the Section Head of Adult Cardiac Surgery and the University of Michigan, the Executive Director of the Cardiovascular Network of West Michigan and co-Director of the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.  His clinical and research interests revolve around the care of patients with aortic valve and thoracic aortic disease.  In addition, he collaborates extensively with bioengineers and radiologists at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center to evaluate the impact of catheter-based therapy on cardiac function and aortic and cerebrovascular blood flow hemodynamics.
