Chris Malaisrie is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Northwestern University and an Attending Cardiac Surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he also serves as Surgical Director of the Comprehensive Aorta Center. He is Program Director for the Thoracic Surgery Residency and Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Malaisrie graduated from the University of Maryland Medical School in 1998 and completed his residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in 2006, followed by a fellowship in Heart and Lung Transplantation at Stanford University in 2007.
His clinical expertise includes valvular heart disease, aortic surgery, and pulmonary artery procedures, encompassing minimally invasive valve repair, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, the Ross procedure, and pulmonary thromboendarterectomy. Dr. Malaisrie’s research focuses on transcatheter and endovascular therapies for heart valves and the aorta.
He is actively involved in professional leadership, serving on the board of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, chairing the STS Workforce on International Education, co-chairing the AATS Cardiac Clinical Practice Standards Committee, and chairing the ACC Cardiac Surgery Team Council.
